change fonts existing reports

Is it possible to change the font, for example to font-family Arial, for all
the existing reports made in reporting services.

existing reports as xml, then use SelectNodeList to get all the <FontFamily>
nodes.
Then foreach node in the node list, change the InnerText to the new font &
republish the report

Thank you for your reaction. For your solution I have to write code ? I did
find the GetReportDefinition but not the SelectNodeList. Can you explain more
how to do this ? .
I did find out that it is possible to use Edit -> Find and Replace ->
Replace in Files. This is not perfect but it helps to avoid changing every
item. Then you can change all reports in the project to the font-family arial
for example.

Yes, you will have to write code. SelectNodeList is in the System.Xml.XPath
namespace.
However, if you only want to change the font once, then Find/Replace might
be easier. I was thinking that you may need to change the font regularly.

change font weight

i have one doubt

how to change font weight ?Because i have two records in my table i need to change that particular records only i need to change "BOLD"

thanx

You can return this information as an additional column as part of your SQL query. Then in design mode, highlight the details row (or individual testboxes) and make the font weight an expression based on the column in you dataset. e.g.

SELECT type
, font_weight = CASE type WHEN 'special' THEN 'Bold' ELSE 'Normal' END
FROM some_table

Then the expression will read:

=Fields!font_weight.Value

You can apply this technique for most properties not just FontWeight.

Change font size w/ expression?

Hi I have a chart whose title I would like to format w different font sizes.
The chart title is:
<caption>="This is the chart main text" + vbcrlf +
First(Fields!subtitle.Value, "Text")</caption>
The main chart title is hard coded and the second line is a field.
I would like to change the font size on that second line. Is there a way to
reference the <caption> line in <style><fontsize> and parse through it?
I'm thinking this isn't possible, but why not ask.
Thanks!

You will most likely want to create a custom ASP.NET application that
reads in the RDL file (possibly as an XML Document) and parses the XML
tags and writes the file back out -and/or- read the RDL file in via
Streamreader and assigns it to a string and then does a string replace
of the fontsize in the tags and then writes the file back out via
Streamwriter. Hope this helps.

Any chance there is a way to do it within the rdl?

change font color in subtotal

My matrix looks like this:
row1
row2
subtotal
The subtotal background color is different than the regular row and this
part is working, I also want to change the font color of the subtotal based
on the subtotal value.
=IIF(
Parameters!RP_PERCENNUM.Value=1,(IIF(SUM(Fields!Percentage.Value)>100,"Red","Transparent")),(IIF(SUM( Fields!Hours.Value)>40,"Red","Transparent")))
The above statement won't work and it changes everything to red. I have
tried to use InScope and it did the same thing.
=IIF(
Parameters!RP_PERCENNUM.Value=1,(IIF(InScope(SUM(Fields!Percentage.Value))>"100","Red","Transparent")),(IIF(InScope(SUM(
Fields!Hours.Value))>"40","Red","Transparent")))
Anyone has any idea how to change the color? Thanks.You would need to nest your IIF's inside of another IIF
or
write code in the Report Code field, with input parameters, for Percentage
and Hours, and a return parameter of your font color. Then call this code
from the font color property as an expression

If I understand you correctly, you can either set the fonts via
selecting the Properties Window (F4) once selecting a cell/etc. Then
select Font and Font Family. -or- You can select the Layout tab in
BIDS. Then select the 'Tools' drop-down tab -> 'Options...' ->
Environment -> Fonts and Color -> then Font. Hope this helps.

The default font for designing reports in the layout is set to Tahoma. This
font should be changed to different font family. So that all the text of
report header, column headers, data text will be shown in the selected font
by default. This can not be achieved by following the steps specified below.
Is there any way to achieve it?
Thanks!

As far as I know, controlling the default font is not feasible. Sorry
that I could not be of greater assistance.

Change Dataset font size

Is there there a way to change font size of the text of the data set while working in the Report Designer?

In the menu: Go to "Tools" --> "Options"; then under "Environment" --> "Fonts and Colors"

You can edit alot of elements within the dev. studio. (I just didn't find the way to change the font size of the generic query builder (maybe that only happens after restart which I didn't do))

Change all FontFamily

How can I change all the font family of all controls in a report?I'd either use find/replace in xml (view source), or xsl
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
xmlns:msrs="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition"
xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:fn="http://www.w3.org/2005/02/xpath-functions"
exclude-result-prefixes="msrs xs fn">
<xsl:output encoding="iso-8859-1" method="xml" omit-xml-declaration ="yes"
indent="yes"/>
<xsl:template match="//msrs:FontFamily">
<msrs:FontFamily>Tahoma</msrs:FontFamily>
</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="@.* | node()" priority="-2">
<xsl:copy>
<xsl:apply-templates select="@.* | node()"/>
