Change licensing mode

Hello

Can someone tell me which is the quickest method to change the licensing mode after RS has been installed (per seat -> per processor)

Many thanks!

Worf

Well apparently you can't. The only way you can is by reinstalling RS.

Worf

change DB owner

I have several Production Databases on my SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition Server (mixed mode authentication) that I'd like to change DBO Permissions on. When I look at the Properties of the DB(s) from EM, the Database owner is showing up as a Windows NT USer who is no longer even with the company!!

Can I use the sp_changedbowner 'sa' command to change the database owner to sa without disrupting Production? Might sound like a dumb question.. but ya never know!!!!! Also, I had someone on another forum tell me that 'sa' as db owner is a bad idea but I don't know why??? can anyone elaborate on that???I am also interested in these questions (and so have posted to just put it back to the top of the list in the hope someone can answer - is that bad etiquette?)|||Yes, you can always change the database owner to sa. At least as far as I know, this is a good idea in almost every case.

As far as the person that thought it was a bad idea, I'd love to hear their reasoning... While I can concoct a case where it was a bad idea, it would take some considerable doing, and would probably never happen in "the real world".

-PatP|||Thank's Pat.

jpotucek, even though the user that own's the database has left, does their Windows account still exist? Does it cause you any issues?|||The only reason I ever had a person other than sa as dbo, was when I had a person who kept forgetting to put dbo in front of objects she created.

Tim S|||I don't manage the NT accounts here, just the logins on the SQL Server. The accounts still exist and they may even be disabled, i don't know. I'm going to change the DB Owner on all to sa and drop the users from my sql servers - then I know i won't have any problems!!!!

THank you one and all

Change Data Souce

How to change shared data source in dinamic mode by parameters?
If you have a sample, please send me a link.
Thanks.
Helder Flores
Sinatecno TIYou can not change the data source in SQL 2k... however you can use linked
servers, etc and create the query on the fly, which gives you the ability to
dynamically change from one server to the next ie in the data set
if @.reportparamtype=1
select * from dbo.table1
else
select * from mylinkedserver.pubs.dbo.table1

there.

John|||go to EM in that tools menu click on sql server configuration and click on

Change Authentication

SQL Server has been installed using Windows Authentication.
I want to change one of my databases to mixed mode.
Can someone tell me if this is possible and how to go about it ?
TIAthe authentication is done at the server level so I don't think you can do
this at DB level.
anyone?

differently for individual databases.

Cell Orientation

How do i format the Header cells to be oriented by 90 degrees like in Excel. I tried the WRITING MODE under INTERNATIONAL in properties, and choose "tb-rl". But it gives top to bottom. Is there any way to get it bottom to top?

Is there any example to write Expression in Writing Mode property to display in 30 degrees?

Thanks.

Girija, did you ever find a solution to this? I need to do the same thing, rotate headers by 90 degrees.

Thanks.

|||Unfortunately, this is not supported in the current version of Reporting Services. Arbitrary text rotation is something we would like to add in a future release.

Cause SQL Server Restricted Mode (db_owner, dbcreator,)

What would cause SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
databases to be in access restricted mode where only
db_owner, dbcreator, and sysadmin?
SQL Server was not placed in access restricted my any
administrator.
This is an active/active cluster with SQL Server 2000
SP3A with Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
Could the cluster place SQL Server 2000 in a access
restricted mode?
If SQL Server 2000 resources were very low for extended
period would the cluster or SQL Server place SQL Server
in access restricted mode?
Please help me resolve this issue.
Thank You,
Dan
The only thing that can do that is an administrator. If it is a new
database, it will look exactly like that since SQL Server uses the principle
of having to explicitly grant access. But, if it is an existing database,
an administrator had to have changed the security. You are saying that no
one did this. I'd more accurately say that no one is willing to admit to
having done that. How can you find out? Download Log Explorer from
Lumigent Technologies and point it at your tran log + tran log backups. It
will show you pretty explicitly when the security was changed and by whom.
I'd also recommend taking a look at their companion product Entegra which
can notify you immediately when security changes and a whole host of other
things change.
